OKM Evolution NTX - 3D Ground Scan Tutorial
How to Perform 3D Ground Scans with the OKM Evolution NTX: A Step-by-Step Guide
In this exciting video, Mark Harris, Vice President of the OKM Americas Branch, demonstrates the powerful capabilities of the OKM Evolution NTX 3D Ground Scanner. Filmed at OKM's headquarters in Altenburg, Germany, Mark walks us through the entire process of performing a ground scan, analyzing the data, and confirming the results with a real-world excavation.
Step 1: Configure Your 3D Ground Scan Before you begin scanning, proper configuration is key. The Evolution NTX is set to scan in 3D mode, allowing you to visualize underground objects with incredible accuracy. Once the device is ready, you'll begin scanning the target area — in this case, a buried metal pipe — using a series of scan lines.
Step 2: Scan Your Target Area To start scanning, press the trigger on the Evolution NTX to initiate each scan line. It’s important to follow a few simple scan tips for optimal results:
- Keep the probe steady and in a straight position.
- Do not rotate the probe during measurement.
- Maintain a consistent distance between the probe and the ground.
- Walk slowly to ensure the device captures enough data points.
Once the scan is complete, Mark transfers the data to a laptop for analysis in the next step.
Step 3: Analyze Your Scan in Visualizer 3D Studio The scanned data is imported into the Visualizer 3D Studio, where the results come to life. As Mark explains, the software provides a clear and accurate image of the underground target, showing a strong positive signal (indicating the presence of the target) and a negative signal (indicating background noise). A well-defined boundary around the target helps confirm its exact location and shape. From this scan, it’s clear that a strong ferromagnetic object, like the metal pipe, is present beneath the surface.
Step 4: Excavating the Target To verify the scan's accuracy, Mark digs up the metal pipe. Watching the target emerge from the ground offers a satisfying conclusion to the scanning process and reinforces the precision of the Evolution NTX. By following this simple, yet effective process, you can use the OKM Evolution NTX to detect buried objects with high precision, helping you locate treasures, pipes, and other metallic targets with ease.
